The standard 115 gr. FMJ 9mm bullet will tumble in test medium. If you are using this load on predators it seems like tumbling would increase the effectiveness, making tumbling a good thing.

One of the commercial ammunition manufacturers produces a defensive load using a very pointed solid bullet bullet, that is designed to tumble. My question is has anyone shot either the Lyman 356402 or the Lee 356120TC through any sort of test medium to see if they tumble?

Thanks..j

The old 38 spl 200 grn man stopper load was pretty effective in its day. It started tumbling almost on impact transferring lot of its energy to the target. While expansion at pistol velocities can be iffy at times tumbling of a long for twist bullet is a sure thing.

The above mentioned loads bullet is around 1" long a lot more surface than the .355 dia of the bullets dia penetrating straight
