Reliable Data for 225gr LRNFP 45 Colt Pistol

I am looking for a reliable load for a 225gr LRNFP bullet coming from a Ruger New Vaquero pistol. The bullets come from SNS Casting. They are lubed. I have only be able to find data for JHP. Any help you can offer will be much obliged.

Mostly older ones, Hornady, RCBS, Sierra. A lot of stuff my father gave me. I’m not picky on powders. Unique seems most likely but CFE Pistol, Titegroup, 4227, W271 or anything in that area will work. Use is for carrying as a my pistol on the ranch. Can’t find any of the rounds I used to buy, so I found some cast bullets, and have primers (CCI 300) and have folks who will trade me powder for some shotgun powders that I have.

Alliant Unique is a good place to start for 45 LC. The Lyman data from the 3rd Ed. Cast Bullet Handbook is the same as their current data for the Lyman 452190 250 gr. The Lyman 3rd Ed Handbook is free on line:

The Alliant data in the cowboy load section has 45 Colt 230 grain data with several powders.

For me "reliable" data is directly from my published reloading manuals. I never use any load I see on any forum unless I double check it against one of my manuals. I only have the Lyman 49th at my desk, the 50th, Cast Bullet Handbooks, 3rd and 4th, are out in the shop but there is data for the Lyman 452424, 255 gr LSWC, 15 powders listed, in the 49th. Unique is a good choice for me and I didn't want any "hotter" loads so I went with about one grain over book minimum. Worked quite well in my Cimarron SAA clone...

You might check your 'shotgun' powders, quite a few 'shotgun' powders work very well in the 45 Colt. Red Dot, Green Dot, Herco, 800X, HS6 and HS7 are all used as shotgun powders, along with many others. 'Reliable' data for many is listed in loading manuals and on the powder suppliers websites like Hodgdon, Alliant and Accurate.

For a standard pressure , factory equiv . load ( not +P or Ruger only )
Load the 225 gr, LRF over 7.5 grs. Unique @ approx. 850 fps
or for a little stouter load -
use 8.5 grs. Unique @ approx. 900 fps .
these are my pet , walking around , loads for 45 Colt .

Be sure and check these numbers ... I could make a mistake , load safe and have more than one loading manual .
Lyman #3 online is a pain to scroll through ... the book is so much easier to look through .

What happened to the Hodgdon Data Center ? Since they updated it ... it's not nearly as user friendly as it used to be ... new and improved like New Coke .

No problems when I used it. went to site, selected pistol, selected caliber, selected 2 bullet weights, then all powders and there it was. After viewing the first bullet weight data, clicked the + sign and got the second set of data. I am on slow DSL on a desk top.
