A single shot falling block with 3 or 4 interchangeable barrels. First barrel would be in 32/20, second in 30/30 , third would be 38/55, and maybe a 22 K-Hornet. thinking a little more about it while typing, I might reverse the order of #3 and #4.

I did build the one I wanted. A .30-40 Krag in carbine configuration, but with a heavier than issue barrel.

I could pick any number of cartridges .
For a pistol I should like to have a slick cyl N frame maybe based on a 29 . 4.5" barrel in 45 Colts but with a relieved extractor to accommodate moon clips . Gold.trigger ,color case hammer , 50s classic blue , satin oiled walnut grips shaped like the Houges .
Bolt guns become a mad trade off . I love me some 98s and FNs were really nice but so were the Mk Xs . Then there's cartridge 257 Roberts , 7×57 marked 275 Rigby with 1-11 twist , or 9×57 with 1-16" definitely top my list . We need M70 style swing safety and a 5# direct but double set trigger . I like the Fajin sporter stocks but with a straight vs Monte Carlo comb . Modern recoil pad , ebony grip cap and tip flor de lis checkering double line border . Deep blue , probably some sort of a hybrid butter knife bolt handle but I want the body jeweled and blue . Bow release hinged floor plate , compass scroll around the action screws , all jeweled and blued . 22" sporters , ramp hooded front , 3/32" brass , adjustable rear told down peep fixed to the rear of the rail , 8" rail , fixed gloss 6x duplex . 3 QD studs for the sling . A work horse with a silk blanket .

A 5 barrel Super Pose , 12 & 20 30" F/Mod and Special Steel , 12 ga paradox , all classic blue all ribbed , matt silver receiver scroll no inlay . American grip butt stock , modern recoil pad ebony grip cap . 3" mag receiver and block chambered 2-3/4 .

I want a Savage/Stevens in decent wood in a 20" barreled 256 WM with a 1-10" simple receiver sight truck gun .
As a companion a large shank 110 with a .473 bolt head , long action , barrels in 284 , 35-284 , and 45-284/458 Alexander/45-70 rebated .
Both satin Melonite black 22" barrels , no plastic , but no need for nice wood either .

Take down Rolling Block designed for smokeless with 3 or 4 pistol caliber barrels.

.357mag would top the list.
Possibly a .41mag, or a .44Rem Mag. I have 2 of those in handi rifles already and love them dearly.
Very likely some form of a 32, be it .32sw long, .32H&R or least likely .327.
Possibly a .22WMR.

I didn't have to build it, I bought it. However, if I were to have such a firearm built it would be the same as my Thieme & Schlegelmilch drilling. It was 16 X 16 over 9.3 X 75R Nimrod. In the right, shotgun barrel I installed a Sempert-Krieghoff einstecklauf in 22 LR. So, now it's 16 X 22LR over 9.3 X 75R Nimrod. Can't honestly think of anything better suited for "all around" use....and I use it for just that purpose!!!

I’d just finish the original high wall project I started in the early ‘90s... it has a 32-40 and a 45-70 barrel and DSTs with a Schuetzen stock as well as a “Special Sporter” stock with Model 70 style butt plate. I still plan to add a 22 RF barrel (w/ the necessary RF block and extractor) and probably some light caliber like 32-20 WCF or maybe 25-20 SS. It will need a lot of bluing and wood finishing as well as a little checkering and perhaps engraving.

Fine O/U 375 H&H. Finely finished blued or SS 12" 357 mag levergun, probably Browning-designed. Turn bolt .358 or .375 BR with integral suppressor. 1886 in 50 Alaskan. Redhawk with a grip that fits in something over 40 caliber. I guess that last one is a pipe dream.

I built a rifle I wanted for every thing from deer to who knows what, I do like the 7mm Rem. Mag. but have no use for a bullet over 150gr in it, So starting with a CZ24 action I built a .280 Rem. AI Nosler, it gives me good range for most hunting, enough power to kill any thing in the lower 48 states. Alaska with the exception of the big coastal brown bear. .280 Ammo can be found most any where on the world African plains game would not be out of the question,

Howdy -

A 25" barrelled .250-3000 bolt rifle, w/ twist to handle bullets up to 110gr.

Would accomodate light .25 cal varmint bullets like 75HPs, and on up to the heavier 110s.

Varmint rifle, predator rifle, hog rifle, sheep eatin' dog rifle, kids first rifle; rifle for an average frame female shooter/hunter. Take your pick.

Former Ruger M-77 " Red Butt " .250-3000s from the mid-latter -70s were offered in 22" or 24" barrel length. Could be an updated version of that, w/ the 25" barrel providing a boost in velocity over the other barrel lengths mentioned.

Could also be made using a Rem 700, M-788, Ruger American, Savage Axis; and similar. An action that has good trigger pull weights offered, even if as an aftermarket product.

Use a removable single shot feed ramp, to preserve magazine fed capability; when performing as a varmint rifle on groundhog.

With regards,
357Mag

A 5 screw Smith & Wesson M27 with a 6 1/2" bbl.
And it would have Long Cylinder to accept the #358429 crimped in the crimp groove And NOT over the front band.
A Pre-64 Featherweight Short-Action switch barrel in .358Win, .300Sav and .250Sav Imp.
And a Long-Action version .257Roberts and .270Win.
And a Magnum version in .300H&H, .375Weatherby.
For the Shotgun a Gas Operated Auto-5 in 12ga 3" with Briley chokes that will also operate with powder puff loads.

For REAL DREAM Guns;
Colt SAA, D-Engraved in .44-40 7 1/2" bbl with one piece ivory grips carved with the old family brand. The box S.
A companion 1873 1 of 1,000, 26" Octagon bbl Fully engraved in .44-40 straight stock shotgun butt. Feather crotch stock.
And an El Paso Saddlery Rig, fully carved and edge laced.

I've thought about a switch barrel, 308 for cast and j words, maybe 6.5 something, right now it is chambered in 20 tac, it is a savage, and it has been blue printed, you can get all the barrels you want for savages, but not to many stocks available, they are an ugly gun, but I sure like them!

falling block with quick change barrels would be my choice. Next up the pipe dream. Something with an adjustable chamber for length and caliber barrel should be octagonal with removeable rounded inserts to go to round barrel the only problem I'm having is barrel length which obviously will need to match adjustable chamber bore. Darn all how is it that the asperly has not been returned to production with this kind of demand?

Not quite. The 9.3 X 75R Nimrod IS NOT the 9.3 X 74R. The 9.3 X 75R Nimrod was a proprietary cartridge by Thieme & Schlegelmilch from about 1905 until about the end of WWI. It shoots a 200 gr. bullet at about 2100-2200 fps. I load mine to 1700 - 1800 fps in deference to its age. Still, the question was "all around". That's as all around as I need for where I hunt and what I hunt for these days. ALL drillings are fun!

I've built lots of rifles. Some were scratch builds, plus lots of large and small ring Mausers. The build that I'm looking forward to the most is one that I've already collected almost all the parts for: a rifle based on a P1914 action in caliber 9.5x57 Mannlicher-Schoenaur. (also called the 375 Rimless Nitro Express) I'm going to fit a M1917 bolt, magazine box & follower to the P14 action. I already have the barrel and stock blanks, the chambering reamer & gauges, the reloading dies, Timney trigger, and all the action parts. The only thing that's holding me back is finishing the two Mauser 98 builds that are already in progress first, (a 6.5x55 and a 257 Roberts). After a few years I'll have built out and sporterized all of the milsurp bolt actions that I've collected through the years. Once these rifles are completed I plan on machining single shot falling block actions from scratch. Hopefully I'll continue building rifles for the rest of my life. Maybe some other rifle will call to me like an obsession later, but for now it's the P14 in 9.5x57 MS.

I’ve also done a bunch of builds since I’ve retired. A M1a using a Ruger mini 30 action, remilitarized 2 ’03 Springfields, built a Marlin 1894 and a repro 1873 into Trappers, a cut up Krag into a scout, a pair of Model 12’s into a trenchgun and a riot gun and the one I'm doing now, a Ruger mini 300blkout into a garand. This one has been a real chore which frustrates me so I walk away and work on an easier build and then return.

I'd start with a Mauser 98 action, or a '96, add a varmint weight, match barrel in 6.5x55, bedded into a xxx grade walnut stock and topped off with a big Leupold scope.

I am finishing a Mauser '96 with a carry weight , 257 Roberts barrel in a standard grade walnut stock, it will likely wear a mid-priced Vortex or a Baush & Lomb scope as I have them on hand.

Mine is a work in progress. Strong bolt rifle action ever. Arisaka t38. Simplified trigger and safety system-Timney. No frills but no skimping either. Probably a Boyd’s stock. Short barrel, detachable mags. Probably 450 bushmaster.

So far...
I have the stripped action, bolt, bottom metal, a barrel to use as a thread adapter, cheap AR barrel to thread in and use for trial purposes.

If money were not a concern then it would be a African express double in one of the nitro express cartridges, fine wood, hand tooled leather case,

I've been fortunate enough to build a couple dreams. First was a left handed Tennessee style poor boy Flintlock. .45 cal. Wild Cherry stock along with Possibles bag and Horn and all necessary accessories. Second was a 98 Mauser action with a .257 Roberts tube . Action was blueprinted and a Timney trigger was added. The barreled action was bedded in a left hand shooter thumbhole Stock. Both of these rifle have been used to put venison in the freezer.

I'd like to build a 300 blackout improved as a boolit only plinker. I'd purchase a savage model 12 in 223, pull the barrel and save it for when my other 223s need it. I'd custom design a chamber reamer for a 7mm tcu body taper, and a 30 degree shoulder. The neck length and throat would match the boolit I'd intend to use.

Wow...this is a hard choice. Just 1? Maybe a long action semi-auto in .30-06. Think along the lines of an M1A action stretched a bit, and milled to accept BAR magazines with a 24" heavy barrel with a 1:10 or faster twist to lob some heavier bullets. I'd add an adjustable gas block that can be turned off, and an extended charging handle.
Being able to send Hardcast gas checked 240+gn boolits downrange 20 at a time would be the bees knees.
