Hi. I’m just starting my journey into reloading ammo. A friend gave me this CH Die Co. case trimmer along with 5 shell holders. Two of the shell holders came with what look like 1/4” dowel pins approximately 1.91” long. Are these “dowel pins” actually used with this trimmer, or just stray parts that ended up with these shell holders.
I’m looking into getting set up for 9mm trimming but don’t have the holder for that.
Does any have a holder for 9mm that would fit this trimmer, I would be willing to trade one of the dies I do have for one. I heard that the Wilson shell holders also fit this device.
I would also love to see an instruction sheet on this. Thanks - Jon

L.E. Wilson and CH trimer holders will interchange. I have and use both CH and Wilson trimmers and I use the holders for each caliber on both. Both excellent trimmers and cut the case mouth square which can be hit or miss on some other makes of trimmers. I use a nut to tighten the adjustment screw on both the front of the screw and the back of the screw. That way there is little possibility for the adjustment to loosen and throw the adjustment off. I have over the years bought a CH trimmer or a Wilson trimmer(whichever I can find the cheapest) for each and every caliber I load for. That way, each caliber has the adjustment fixed and locked down good and tight and I do not have to re-adjust the trimmer each time I start to trim a different sized case. For the money I consider the CH trimmer to b e the best on the market ---IMHO. Works for me, james

I just noticed your question about the pins. Measure them with your calipers, maybe someone made "quickie" adjustment pins for one of the calibers of the shell holders. The CH holder does not use pins nor does the trimmer itself. just a guess on my part, james

Welcome to the forum .
As you get experience you may find that your case trimmers and trimming time may be better used on something other than 9mm :) personally I would not spend money setting up those trimmers up for 9mm but they will be great to have for some cartridges. Some folks may trim 9mm but I bet they are a rare bunch.

Hi. Thanks for your greeting. Glad to be welcomed. I looked on the link you sent, and indeed, found the 9mm accessories for the CH. However, I am confused. In the listing of accessories, there are three columns for each caliber to cross reference: group (B), shell holder (LG), and case holder (P). Well, I do have a group B case holder, but it is HUGE compared to my 9mm shells I don’t have the “LG” (shell holder) one, but I do have the case holder marked “P”. This one seems to fit shells that have been sized, but not shot (unsized) ones. An instruction sheet would go a long way here I’m sure. But if you could shed some light on any of this, it would help me a lot. - Jon

This maybe what you are referring to:

It’s a Wilson case holder but I think they are peas in a pod to the C&H system.

Hi. Good hypothesis, but no, it isn’t a Wilson wedge pin. I’m guessing it’s just a miscellaneous pin, or as someone suggested a make-shift spacer.

I never saw the need to trim 9X19 or any other straight wall handgun case.

BTW that CH trimmer is one of the best (maybe the best) hand operated trimmers.
