mold release

when pouring jigs for fishing the ideal practice is to (smoke) the mold. you can do this by holding a candle or lighter under the cavity of the mold and let the soot collect for easy release of the jig after its poured. i am wondering how this is accomplished when making boolits. do you smoke the mold or is there a commercial release that is applied and if so how often?

Some people smoke, some use release. I prefer to not use anything. I have two moulds I use release in and it is simply to size them down, they cast too big without. A mould working correctly should not need release IMO. They either need to be polished or vented better IMO.
