Just as it says .
Parameters ;
230 gr class .
45 ACP/AR/S&W .
900-1000 fps.
Secondary hunting tool .

I have 7-8 SWC , RNFP , RB and RN in 141, 196 ,203 , 250 , 255 , 265 , 350 , and an as yet unweighed 454424 round groove HP .
Neither of the 1917s will shoot the 250-265s in a satisfactory manor , 3 alloys , WC , AC . The 265gr 452-255 RNFP shoots but doesn't make the desired 50 yd hold , a self impossed base number for standard .
Both readily meet and exceed the standard with the 200 gr class bullets .
Really I'm just going for the last ftlb in hopes I never need it .

Platforms
1917 stock
1917 Bubba'd reamed to 45 S&W aka Schofield .
HP Carbine .
M92' possible at a later time in S&W rechamber .

Yes I'm fully aware that a 230 north of 1000 fps is a hot load but I think even a weak 45 ACP action will handle a Schofield +P+ at 18-20 kpsi , standard loads are 14 kpsi , and 45 ACP is 21-23 kpsi .

I've narrowed this down to ;
Accurate 45-229N
NOE 452-228 SWC BM1
The RCBS 45-230 CB is a distant 3rd .
The 454423 is listed heavier than I want and has been noted to be irregular in weights by a wide margin .

So which and why , alternatives welcome .

How 'bout this one: https://noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/452-454/tl452-234-rf-bi2/

We started the design discussion for .45 ACP, then someone had the grand idea of converting the first TL groove into a crimper to do double duty in the wheelguns.

If you want conventional lube grooves for the same concept, Accurate 45-230X

Same concept with no crimp groove: Accurate 45-230A or 45-230F

Plenty of blunt force trauma off the noses of all of these, and a grand shape for feeding in your autos.

Cast it hard and load to hardball spec - it'll penetrate plenty.

I thought about that one . The HP seems feed whatever will open the bolt far enough to get rid of the empty an catch the next round . It's a non-issue in in the rest .
I considered the RNFP/OWC (ogival WC) types but I've had great effects with the 454424 variations .

I have the 45-229N and I like it. Feeds well and has a large meplat.
Not regretting getting the mold at all.

I like the Saeco #058. 215gr bowling pin bullet.

I don't feel the need to load them hot so in the 800 range gets the job done for me.

The 45-229N is actually a 230 grain clone of the Saeco 058 plus it is a flat base and not beveled.
So both things are a plus to me.

Nice !

I don't know why I don't think about Seaco for moulds .

A couple hours ago I was shooting a NOE 452-232HP seated 1.200", and 9.2 grains of Bluedot. That shot about 980 fps from my Sig P220, and I believe it is possibly over pressure (no pressure signs, only a guess). 9.0 grains went about 950 fps, which I think a plenty hot load, and likely right at max 45 acp +P.

This is one drawback of semi-autos, and that is you are dictated by what will feed well. If you want a bullet with a wider flat nose, you will also likely have to seat them deeper to fit the magazine, like I did. This raises pressure, and limits velocity. Personally, if I were to take my Sig out hunting, I like the Lee 252gr SWC with 8.5 gr Bluedot for something like 850 fps.

The Accurate Mold 45-229N feeds well in my Kimber 1911's and my Glocks. That bullet suites me. I am not in a velocity race with the 45 Auto. I have 10MM's plus 44 Mags, 45 Colts, 454 Casull plus some other "block busters" in Encore handgun barrels.
800 to 850 fps with a 230 grain bullet in the 45 Auto is plenty for me.
Others may need more. For whatever reason.

... For whatever reason.

Because if you load to 45 ACP +P, the only real advantage a 10mm auto has is a few extra rounds in the magazine.

I don't have to load to +P pressures in a 45 Auto. I drag out a 44 Magnum if I need that level of power.
Does a 45 Auto +P push a 200 grain bullet at 1200 fps? A 5 inch 10MM will with Underwood Ammo.
It is up to the individual to do what they want. I do.
I like for others to be free to do what they want.

I will note a 45 ACP +P will push a similar weight bullet to similar speed as the quoted 10mm ammo with select factory brands and handloads will do the same in my use. Reference actual velocities obtained with Power Pistol, for instance. So the comparison as to power is not unjustified.

I guess I will just drag out my 454 Casull then.

Then why use a 10mm auto?

Then why use a 10mm auto?

Because I don't want to drag out my 500 S& W.
And I like the 45 Auto since it is my favorite Semi Auto caliber. But if I need more power I have others to choose from plus the 10MM is my second favorite Semi Auto caliber with the 40 Smith and Wesson in 2.25 place in Semi Autos.
