why? i just want to know why? :groner:

i bought at an auction a sporter 93 mauser in i think, 7x57 and i bought a 1898 spr armory sporterized stock. its less than two of ben frankilin's bills.

i think(i'm doing too much of that lately) its a Venezuelan 93 mauser and its serial # is A 9XXX. it has for a crest the words fabrique nationale herstal liege instead of a picture. the picture doesn't show it. i am cleaning out the bore(boy does she need it!!!!) and the next step will be to take off the stock and clean the rifle off. i don't what i can use it for.......

on the other hand, i have a 1898 spr armory sporterized stock that will be used in my action. i have four of them: 2 rifles and 2 actions sans bolt. the actions are now stocked, everything else i have to buy.

....and when the mail showed up, i was greeted with a Numrich 6.5x55 swede "in the white" barrel. i will put that my son's 93 mauser(if the gunsmith approves). if not, there's always the 95 Chilean mauser action. and i forgot to photograph it.

I had no idea that FN ever made 1893 Mausers. Man, the bargains you come up with! I'd like to hang out at your place; we'd build something cool with all your project material!

I have really come to like small ring Mausers the past few years. Bought a neat '93 Sporter about two years ago in 7x57, love it. I believe I'd have bought that one for under two as well.

Interested in the Krag builds whenever you get around to them. You can never have too many projects. Or so I’ve heard.

i have one krag that is gong to finished.....next week? it's my heirloom(great grandfather, grandpap, dad, late uncle and me) and it was/is bubbaed up, so there is no big loss. i've put on a redfield 102k aperture sight 8 or 9 nine years ago and the stock needed finished. it needs some more rotten stone/3 in 1 oil and johnson's paste wax to finish it.

i've got another krag that i stripped the stock with citristrip and now its sitting there. also i evapo-rust the gun steel (it was rusty) and i did oxphu-blue it. that will be my next project alongside with one of my 93 mauser (youngest son's soon to be rifle).

when i took the stock off of my 93 Venezuelan? mauser, i'd seen three proof marks that were Belgium and one that makes my head hurt. it is a star over the letter A. also there is a caliber, 7MM. right next to it, N (what i think is) beb.blindee

there is some pitting underneath the barrel, so the beb part is/isn't right.

i bronze wool it and now it is soaking in g96 gun treatment. i did the bore with sweets(i only have little bit left) and shooter's choice mc #7. gunslick's foaming bore cleaner was used last nite. the bore is clean, but the rifling is around 50-60% good, sorta. when i look down the chamber, i can see the first couple of inches that the rifling is worn out to about 20-30%. then about 1 or 2" from the muzzle, its about 40ish %.
