Stopped at the gun smith the other day to drop off a shotgun with a broken firing pin. We got to talking about component costs and I mentioned that I cast my own bullets. He pointed out a large block of "metal" on the floor and said that he had had it sitting around his shop, getting in his way for 30 years and asked if I wanted it. I took one look at it and said I was definitely interested. He told me to make him an offer. All I had with me at the time was $35 so I offered him that, and he said that was fine with him. He helped me load it into my car. It was a huge ingot of linotype! Final weight after cut up was 75#. He was happy to get it out of his way and get something out of it and I was thrilled to increase my supply so inexpensively! Every now and then even a blind squirrel finds an acorn!
