Team.
Just got back from an overnight shoot. Monday we shot 50m offhand on targets and I used my .40cal flinter. Was a bit rusty as the flinter has not been out for a few months. The afternoon we shot the gong range/bush walk and again I used the flinter. Heaps of fun. Some of the boys also gave their larger bores an airing. I got to shoot an original (rather tatty) .69cal percussion (converted from flint) smootbore musket. Did this offhand at 50m. Terrible score but great group.

Peter arrived with his .577 BP express (2 3/4) double rifle.

Here he is in recoil.

I shot it also and clanged the 50m gong a couple of times. For a gun throwing 530gr of lead over 160gr BP it is not too unpleasant to shoot.

Here is Phil about to light up his Snyder carbine. Now those dang things are as lethal at the back end as the front end!

Tuesday we shot out to 500m with the MLers and cartridge rifles. I shot my .38/303. The nor'west wind was fierce. Had to be gusting to 20mph. With the wind coming in at 10 o'clock I had 5-8 MOA on for windage to keep the shots on the steel. Humidity was 30% and temp 90F so fouling was an issue also and the blow tube go a real work out.
Home now (obviously) and showered and smelling a LOT better.
