Hey all, anyone ever load OO buck in 20ga? Is it feasible? Asking for a friend.

I dunno why not. The shell won't hold nine pellets but the .410 bore three inch holds five 000. Maybe seven it the 20 ga. depending.

Largest I’ve ever tried in the 20 was #1 . As far as that goes I’ve only loaded #1 , 2 and 3 . And for what it’s worth I’ve loaded the same three sizes in the 28 gauge .

1s in 3” hull or 3s in 2 3/4 or 3” is the ticket for a 20.

Conventional wisdom is that 00 buck is too large in dia. for the 20 gauge...and will not stack to make a concentric (balanced) load. Thus, when fired, the pattern will be poor - all over the place. Every source I've read on this issue says that shot must be able to be loaded in even layers, in order to achieve any accuracy. I suppose that you could vertically stack a few 00 pellets in a 20 gauge shell, but done that way they are way undersized...and you'd have to use something (filler or wrapping) to keep the pellets in position (otherwise, again, no accuracy).
