.

Your only hope would be to use a forward scope mount base that utilizes the barrel rear sight dovetail, along with a "scout" scope.

XS Sights should have something that, while not described especially for an 1873, with a little imagination can still be used none the less on an 1873.

The leverScout rail anchors the forward end of the base with an adaptor in the barrel sight dovetail (about 4" from the face of the receiver) and the rear end with one D/T'd hole in the top of the receiver ring.

Maybe you can find this setup somewhere? But it's side mount for the top eject of that rifle

I had a local gunsmith drill and tap my barrel then used a henry flat mount. Mounted a Burris 2x32 scout scope on it. I hunted with it for 5 years before trading it off.....wish i had kept it. It only took the gunsmith 2 days to have it back to me.

Google Malcom 6x scope for Winchester 73 if you want it to look "period". Scout scope it if looks aren't important.
What AJohns above said.

Mozeppa,
Skinner Sights and Henry sell a dovetail slot scope mount for $39 that works well with micro-dot scopes. I have several and they allow me to continue using these classic lever-actions, despite aging eyes.

Probably should have bought a marlin

Not really, both are about the same accuracy wise ;-)

Both my Marlin 1894C and Win 94 Big Bore were drilled and tapped out on the barrel scout style for mounting a scope base for a T/C Contender and are used with pistol scopes. The larger diameter, less tapered Big Bore barrel needed no adjustment but for the 1894C I made a wedge out of slice of a 30-06 case with the thicker head portion being all that was needed to raise up the front of the mount to get proper scope verticle alignment. The Big Bore has been in this configuration for 22 yrs and the Marlin for about 15.

The scope mounts for the Uberti 73 are a tad crude but effective. The quality of the mounts are a bit to be desired but I did get the second mounts to fit good without any drilling. I had to use some blue loctite on the screws to keep them tight. After all was said and done, no adjustments have been made in a year after getting all set.

The Marlin is plug-n-play...even a caveman can do it.

What I have learned over the past many years is that if you want something bad enough, you manage to find a way to get it done. It's kind of like a Jeep, you either love them or hate them.

Here are the issues you can run into with the Malcom mounts. They are not as precise as I would like them to be. I had to get them to send me a second set before I could get a decent fit.
