found an old MEC 200 today in a shop. Seems to be complete except it is missing the priming cup. They are asking $60.00. Not sure if this is worth the price and need advice.

1) will the priming cup for the MEC 600 jr fit this press?
2) any idea of age of this press?
3) what are the differences between the 200 and the 600?
4) is it worth the asking price?

Thanks in advance for your comments,
Sam Sackett

If you have time get with MEC on Monday. They will know what parts ate still available for whatever is missing. 60 bucks I'd a good price.

Thanks, MOA. Great idea. I'll do that.

Ok. Update time.

Called MEC today. Found out that the model 200 shotshell loader is 55 - 60 years old and no parts are available for it. The gentleman stated that there is not even an exploded parts list available, so there is no way to tell if any model 600 parts will fit. The only guidance he would give was to buy 600 parts and see if they fit. I specifically asked about the priming cup, crimp starters and shot bars. The only firm answer I got was that 600 crimp starters definitely will not work on the 200.

So, unless someone has both models and is willing to see what parts, if any, will interchange, the model 200's are not worth picking up unless they are complete. That's what I gather from our conversation.

Sometimes you can get something free and you still lose!

At $60 I would pucker up yer wallet and look elsewhere.

I am still hoping someone will give me one. Or sell, whatever.

I shoot cowboy action and can’t find 12 gauge shells. Have to do something. Pulling at straws now.

Sam,

perhaps a duplicate post in the "Shotgun Casting and Reloading" sub-forum would garner some more help.

Oops! Didn’t see that section. That’s why I posted on this one. I’ll give it a try.

Thanks,

Sam, the prices on used MEC equipment for loading shotshells, especially in 12 ga, haven’t taken the big hop that a lot of other reloading equipment has. I’ve got a Versa MEC from an estate I sold off and when I tried to get $125 for it at the last Lynchburg gun show, it drew just about ZERO interest. Therefore, I’d say that $60 for an older, incomplete one is probably too much. If you are somewhere in VA convenient to Lynchburg, drop me a PM.
