A while back I bought a 2 cavity Lyman 452374 on eBay. It didn't look too great but I wanted a LRN mould for my 1911's so I took a chance. When it arrived, it still looked like it had been stored out in the weather but at least the cavities appeared smooth. A couple of days ago I got a chance to cast and didn't pay too much attention to the bullets as my Lyman bottom pour pot was clogging and giving me fits. I ended up using a ladle! Anyway, that evening as I got ready to size and lube them I realized that grubby old mould produces some of the most perfectly round and smooth bullets of any of my moulds. Now I can't wait to cast again. I'm as happy as a puppy with a new ball! Don't be afraid to take a chance on those old moulds.

I have never seen a 45 that wouldn't shoot that bullet. Congratulations.

Me too, the only boolit I use in .45 ACP. I PC mine. and they look like the Bumperettes on a 57 Chevy !

Other than 2 factory rounds this is the only boolit I have ever shot in My G21SF.

I haven't been able to nail down exactly when this boolit was designed but it appears to be before 1950.

If I had to get by with just one mold for 45ACP, the 452374 would be the one.

Great mold! 5/BE and a taper crimp and all will be good.

Wish I had all the pounds of WW cast into them back. At a buck a pound I could buy a very nice 1911!

The only 45 ACP mold I have.

Consider that the ladle added in the quality of the bullets, not just the mold.

explain why a ladle would help ty.

Sometimes, not always, a ladle will fill a mold more consistently than using a bottom pour pot.

This is why using a ladle is often recommended for large BP cartridge rifles.

If you are lucky enough to have one which drops "large" at .454+ they are wonderful in Starline .45 Schofield brass with 6 grains of Bullseye, WST, TiteGroup or 452AA in the Pietta or Uberti Colt clones, to approximate .45 ACP "hardball" velocity from your Cowboy gun!

IMPORTANT to size revolver boolits to cylinder throats and .454-.455 is perfect for older Colts and their modern Italian cl9nes.

I have 55+yr old 2cav that drops 454 with COWW. First bullet I loaded for both .45ACP & .45Colt.
