Ammo has been so scarce I bought 1,000 rnds fmjfn and 500 rnds of GDHPs a little over $500.00 all in including ship. I moon clipped a couple of boxes and loaded a couple of my cut down ready revolvers with the Gold Dots.........

And....and...how did they shoot? :D

Prices and availability are outrageous, aren't they? Gold Dots are almost too valuable to shoot!

I'd like to read about, and see some photos, of your "cut down ready revolvers." What are they? I'm thinking perhaps 1917s?

A 1950 model pre M-26 trimmed back to 5" and a 1955 model 25-2 chopped down to 4" is what I loaded these in. I have one of the original Colt 2 1/2" cut downs with the tubing cutter front sight as sold through the mail in the 50s and 60s. The GAP makes standard .45acp velocities at +P pressures and should be used in modern guns.......

The only thing I've found that the one in the photo shoots accurately is G.I. FMJ. I use Auto Rim in my others.

I don't have anything that uses moon clips anymore, but I did score some of the GAP ammo from GT Dist. $17.99 for fifty 200 grain Gold Dots? Easy button for sure. Especially since I'm a GAP shooter/carrier. Excellent round/weapon combo for me. I have large hands but shortish fingers so the G39 & G37s work really well for me. And I'm such a sucker for a .45, any .45 really.

That looks like a great old Colt DG.
