I guess flexibility will be the key to getting through the next few years.

The last of my 2400 went down range this afternoon. A good time but a sad day.

Being a shot gun guy have Hodgdon Longshot on hand. The Hodgdon website lists a Longshot load for .44 Mag pistol, but not for rifle. It seems like I'd be safe running revolver ammo in a lever-gun.. but thought that I'd run it past the learned members to see if I'm overlooking something.

I run my 44 loads the same in rifle and pistol. A lot of the times the data is the same. Just the FPS is more because of the longer barrel. Lyman has data for both in their books.

I do the same , use the same ammo in rifle and wheel gun . No problems .

I am thinking you would normally use slower powder in rifle, faster powder in revolver. you can cross them but results will not be as good. Wallace

2400 is an excellent 12 ga magnum powder. It's also usually the most accurate in my SBHs and my Marlin 1894.

I think you will have good luck with longshot in a .44 rifle. There is black powder out there still too.

Did not know that. Guess there are a lot of things I don't know.

Finally out to the range with LONGSHOT loaded .357's and .44, both run through marlin carbines and revolvers. The first observation was that the loads on the minimum side of the scale were "snappy", not a "push" but a snap recoil. In both .357's and the .44's there was fine accuracy, but in both calibers the rifles had considerable smoke from the rounds, while the revolvers seemed smokeless. Reviving an older thread but... see if some of the original contributors weigh in.

Powder has been showing up. But really none from Alliant. Check Mid South and Precision Reloading. Also Hodgdon is selling direct. Have seen Hodgdon H 110 recently and that would work well in your rifle.

I have been using HS 6 in my 44 single shot with excellent results.
