Pressures are low enough for use of pistol primers, should l use a rifle primer anyways?

I know that SR and SP are identical in dimensions while LR are deeper than LP.

For cast rifle loads, is there a reason to use LR? Recent 30-06 loads were 28 4895 with a 170 cast and LP with good groups and no issues .

Should I chsnge?

I do not have a problem using LP in rifles as long as they can reliably ignite the power and the firing pin does not punch holes in them. Never had a problem, but something to be aware of.

I have loaded for Contenders for decades.

I have used LPs in cartridges made from 30-30 cases quite a bit.

I have tried SP, SPM or SR in some "handgun" cartridges and just used what worked best (or I had the most of).

I have worked with using SP primers in 30 carbine in a pinch if I needed too. my regular load of 12.7 grains W296 and Lee 120 grain and small rifle primer FPS is 1809 this load will flatten a small pistol primer I found that 11 grains of W296 and a small pistol primer will not flatten and FPS is just over 1600 and will work the action .

For small rifle I have substituted SPM primers. I can usually find more LR than LP primers.

I use match primers in my cast rifle loads :)
