Anybody got any recipes for RBs in .45 colt and .45-70? I'd like to make up some "cat sneeze" loads that will run about 500 - 700FPS.

I use .457 RBs cast of lead or at a BHN of 7 or less lightly lubed with LLA. The RBs are seated to case mouth and taper crimped.

Over 5 gr Bullseye they run about 575 fps out my 5 1/2" SSA .45 Colt. Suggest you work up from 3 - 6 gr to find what you want.

In my TD 45-70 I use Bullseye also. Suggest you work up from 3-8 gr until you find what you want.

I do not use a wad or filler with these loads.

A friend of mine, in his 45-70, uses a short dowel on top of the RP in the seater to seat the RB down almost on top of the powder. He uses much less Bullseye than I for the same velocity and better accuracy. I don't know the loads but i would start at 2 gr and work up from there. He also uses well fire formed cases which straighten the inside taper of the case out making it almost cylinder.
