I have a old I-frame S&W .32 Hand ejector serial number: 639XX. I am looking for a few loads that are safe in this gun. Don't think I should load hot j-frame loads in this gun. I have some 96 gr RNFP bullets that I use in my .32 H&R mag Ruger SP101 that I would like to use in this gun.

There is a lot of love for the little .32's on this forum, usually spread out in various forums. Another option is http://www.lasc.us/ArticleIndex.htm

Glen Fryxell has a pretty good article on the .32 S&W Long, although he did get the introduction date wrong. I have used the 2.5 grains of Red Dot in my own I frames. It did well enough that I stopped searching.

2.0-2.2 grains of Bullseye or TiteGroup will closely approximate factory ammo.

Your Hand Ejector dates to 1906-1909, probably near the middle of that range, so it is well before S&W started heat treating cylinders so I would lean strongly towards Outpost's recommendation. My own 1903era revolver gets 1.7 grains of ww-231 with an RCBS 32-98 WC boolit. MY 1924 gun and my 1950's gun get the RCBS 32-98 SWC with a more generous dose of ww-231.

Thanks now I have to find some Bullseye or TiteGroup around me. I do have Red Dot and found a pound of ww-231 yesterday. I do have a part of a 50 count WESTERN .32 S&W Longs that has a price marked as $2.95.
