I want one!!! Tell us more about it. What is the barrel? Is it an insert or is it cut at .22? What is the twist on the rifling? Now I've got my next project.

Are you sure you can stand the kick from that big boy? LOL

That is one mighty fine looking smoke pole and I bet it is great fun! Thanks for sharing and it looks like an enjoyable time spent in the woods!

The pellets for the Sheridan air rifle are .20

Are you shooting it with black powder or smokeless ? My experience with small bore muzzleloaders shooting BP is that they foul very quickly.

4f. No issues w foulng. I generally shoot about 20x in an outing. The pellet skirt does a nice job of scraping.
It is smooth rifle (not rifled)
Plenty accurate to the 30y or so I shoot it at. The branch above was at 25y
Builder has passed
I tried .177 and 20. The 22 worked best

Any idea of pellet weight and velocity?

I'd say that would be a specialty rifle and a fun proposition. Bear? :coffee:

That’s a sweet gun. Unique and beautiful. Easily the longest stock I have ever seen, and it even looks like it’s a 1 piece stock. Unreal.

Yes one piece, definitely slim

RU: no hearing protection needed. Far from your ears! Maybe as loud as mild 22 out of rifle?

This is awesome. Do you know what the maker set out to achieve by building this? Seems like a full custom job and not a kit.

Maker was known for small bore rifles
Sadly he has gone to the range in the sky

Theory of operation- Shoot the one out there, smack the one right here?

I am wired completely different...guns are tools. Looks not only difficult to use in the woods, but relatively useless.

I know...I should keep quiet if I have nothing nice to say....but this thing is silly.

BTW, showed the picture to my fiancé. Can't post her comment without getting banned.

I love this!

I have a funny little inline .32 muzzle loader I still haven't shot yet. Got it as a hedge against .22 LR shortages, but woill likely be fun anyway. I need to get off my butt and shoot it.

Nice cat, by the way. I had a big friendly tomcat for a while that would follow me in the woods and sit with me when I squirrel hunted, wish he was still around.

I believe that gun was designed for market hunting ducks from a boat, similar to a punt gun.

You seem to have a lack of education. That big fowling gun wasn't made for the woods. It was made to shoot ducks and geese sitting on the water. That is why it's called a fowling gun. These were quite common on the eastern fly ways. You might want to read some books. I suspect any comments by your fiancé' came from the lack of satisfaction you're able to provide.[smilie=p:

Thanks , I was thinking Hudson Bay for some reason

I would have thought that the projectile would tumble/keyhole with smooth bore.

Now I want one -- maybe the "boy's rifle" version. jd

I made it some years ago. I made another 1/2 dozen or so with 60" barrels too. The reenactor guys out east love them.

Hudson Valley is in NY. Hudson's bay is WAAAYY up north in Canada. Henry Hudson probably discovered both of them.

Hard to get a round ball to tumble.

Hard to get a round ball to tumble.

Your not trying hard enough than. The keyhole one hit further from. Where I'm aiming, I'm sure of it.
