Hi all, I searched but couldn't find what I was looking for. A friend has the 358156 mold and is going to let me use it, he said to use pure lead, but I think that would be too soft. I am not a rookie, but I am not a master caster either. Any and all comments are appreciated. 1 gun I want to shoot it in is a 1894 Marlin. Thanks Mac

I use rang led mixed with wheel weights. Ian running low on weights so now just soft range lead in my 38’s they do fine

Try something along the lines of Clip on wheel weights. your friend would be right if you were shooting very mild 38 loads. An excellent read and will help you is Glynn Frixell in the LASC link at the bottom of the page.
Good Luck,
Rick

I shoot lots of them in handgun and rifle full power cast of wheel weights with a bit of tin, lube sized at .360. n ever had a problem. my most recent loading of them is with 17.5 to 18 grains of Alliant 300mp in 357 mag brass

I use lead in the 9-10 BHN range and that works for my revolvers and my lever action in 357

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of using my usual coww mix on these bullets. While I am here what do most people use the soww's for? Casting lead balls for muzzleloaders or what? I have accumulated quite a few and used none that I can recall.

SOWW can be used for full WC boolits or HP boolits.
