What is possible for mold handles on a double Lyman mold set? Lyman handles seem dear as heck, can Lee double handles be made to fit? I have a couple of Lee dies I'd sacrifice if the handles can be modified?

It would take some work and some shimming.

Do you have a lee 6 handle? They work on Lyman and RCBS

Just to clarify, will the Lee handles for 6 cavity molds work for a Lyman 2 cavity mold?

Will the MP handles work for a Lyman 2 cavity mold?

I think that the answer to both is yes, but since I just ordered my first Lyman mold 5 min ago I’m not sure.

The LEE handles for the 6 cavity work just fine on the Lyman 2 cavity molds. I don't have any MP handles so can't answer that one.

The Lee 6 cavity handles will work with Lyman and RCBS 2 cavity moulds, although you might need to remove some metal from the handles with a file to get them to fit.

I have never bought a brand new set of Lyman or RCBS mold handles. All the ones I have came either already on a mold, or in a box of junk at an auction.

Lee single and double cavity molds come with handles, their only separate handles are meant for their six cavity molds.

Historically, Lee six cavity mold handles have been the least expensive mold handles to buy; so a lot of them were bought to modify. When they cost ten or eleven bucks, if you screwed them up, you weren't out much.

I will admit to being surprised when I saw Lee handles for $24.99 on the web last night, but I didn't price any of the others either.

All of my Lyman double cavity moulds are wearing Lee 6-cavity handles and none of them required modification to fit ... I'm glad I ordered the Lee Handles a few years ago when they were available and much cheaper than today... they up to $25.00... WOW !

Lee molds are sure hard to get now too! I'm glad I bought mine the ones for the 7.62X39 are great in .308 and .30-40. I found a set of Lyman handels though should be here in a few days. Mold for the 314299 is coming too!

With a little shimming, or grinding, and sometimes drilling new holes for the pins-
you can make just about any handles fit any 2 hole mold and not lose the ability to still be good for their original purpose.

A Lee 2 cavity mold handle works with a Lyman 2 cavity mold. For best work the Lee handle really needs a shim to hold the mold better, but will work without a shim. I've done that a couple of times for a temp fix. I welded a shim on bottom of the Lee handle to make it fit only the wide channel of the Lyman (or similar) molds.
