I've read that it's rather easily done by scuffing the surface and cleaning the anodized aluminum with acetone then spraying, but I'm wanting to SnB over a set of aluminum 1911 grip panels that are checkered and I'm unlikely to get in every little diamond in the pattern.

So other than stripping the anodized coating off, are there any preparation methods that have been used with SnB on aluminum with textures like checkering or stippling?

Huh????

What does this have to do with coating boolits?

BTW, how do you plan on protecting the aluminum after you strip off the anodized coating???? It's going to anodize, aka rust, as soon as it's exposed to the air.

Aluminum oxide is aluminum rust and it happens almost instantly when raw aluminum is exposed to oxygen.

I would just clean them up well and then coat. The key is the static electricity so I would get a big enough container and plenty of black BB's. Let us know how it turns out.

I think he is asking the question here because 'we' are the only ones who adhere to the shake and bake method for PC.
