I recently got around to using my kaine dies. I followed the directions the best i could. I measured my boolits and they measure 224 for the most part except where the rims used to be. I know they should be 224. They measure mid to high 224 at the rims. I annealed before i removed the rims. Are these safe to shoot? One guy i was talking to said this is normal and calls it a pressure bump. Thanks.

I hear some do. The instructions say otherwise.

Slightly larger than .224 bases might cause a little higher pressure. So start with a reduced powder charge.
Just like every other new load.

your having problems doing it by the instructions, try doing it a different way if you want different results.

You may want to use a Lee Universal Expander Die to open the mouth a little. If you annealed and used pure lead those bullets are going to be soft. Much softer than cast. Try smashing one with a hammer. They may squish down a little when you load them into the case. You can try pulling one after you load and crimp.

We are talking about a 1/2 of a thousandth of an inch. Variations in case capacity, primer make, powder lot numbers and especially seating depth will contribute more to pressure spikes than .0005 of bullet diameter. Rimfire jackets are GENERALLY more fragile so I keep my loads below maximum anyway and that is usually the sweet spot for these bullets. I know a guy (Stanley ) who believed the reloading manuals were dumbed down and safety'ed up so he knew he could always put an extra grain or 2 of powder to get the full potential of any cartridge. He's ok still but I haven't been shooting with him since 1997. Starting loads like the other guy said above me.

That sounds like a guy back home. Everyone called him gi joe but now it’s one eye Frank. He lost one to shrapnel.

Best three short sentences I've heard! Right to the point.
