I'm sure someone has tried this before, but couldn't locate it using the search.

Would it be possible to reload a 22WMR with the "sharpshooter" primer, charge with the appropriate type/amount of powder and seat a cast lead bullet?

My questions are: what would the amount and type of powder be??

I was thinking a cast 55 grain bullet. Could it be seated using a modified 223 Rem or 22 Hornet die?

These would be used in a single shot rifle, if that matters.

Interesting. If it were my project; I would find the data for loading the 22LR. Start there and work loads up increasing powder a little at a time until reaching and acceptable 22WMR load. - Sort of like what we do with Centerfire. Heres one link that cites a powder and charge weight for 22LR.

Or... On this site look at this thread, A load is cited in post #6 as a start.

I have never got the itch to reload rimfire; but if I did it would probably for for some of the 1800's 30 to 50 caliber Rimfire Cartridges. But then again; the original rounds would be worth quite a sum. Oh well, best wishes in the endeavor.

The sharpshooter 22WMR kit has a mold that casts near 40 gr bullet. You hand seat the bullet then crimp. $89.95+s&h. Sizing die, mold/crimping tool, rim scraper/priming compound tamper, funnel, load data included.

If you want accuracy you should crimp...
