So, I pick up brass from my local range and the newbies with their AR-15s tend to leave a lot of brass.
I recently got a 300 BO upper and started converting brass. What I noticed is that most brass thickness for .233/5.56 is about 0.011". BUT Wolf ammo is 0.015"...
Turns out, if I make 300 BO brass out of Wolf 223/556 it will NOT chamber in my rifle. Amazing what 8 1/1000 ths of an inch will do. It was a great annoyance since I happened to choose a wolf case for my "dummy round". Then I happened to choose another case that I cannot tell who makes it as my second "dummy round"... Well dummy round 1 will not chamber no matter what and dummy round 2 is fine. Dummy round 2 case thickness is 0.011" as is most of the brass I found.
This involved a bit of head scratching, some cursing a few bouts of pulling boolits and resizing cases...
Maybe this saves y'all some head scratching and cursing. ;)
