A reloading friend of mine passed away recently and we have found this mold. Not listed by RCBS now.
Any opinions on this mold and would it have special value ??

Nope: it's just the older version of their 158 SWC they make now.

sorry about your friend.
IF it's a 2 cavity you should be able to get between 100-150 or more on the online auction site

Is it an early example with a rounded sprue plate screw and thinner, polished sprue plate?

RCBS changed the design several times over the years, the early ones were from the
Lachmiller tooling and had a very strong resemblance to the H& G #51.

I would rate an early one in excellent condition above a newly manufactured one.
Others will have different opinions, of course.

Think 358-477 Lyman Copy and you'll be right there. bullet cast from mine would actually fit in my Lyman mold cavities. YMMV

Sorry about your friend.
As pointed out, that's an older version of the RCBS 38 SWC.
I don't know if it would have any special value but it's a fine mold. I don't know if anyone would pay a premium for it but if you're considering selling it - now would be the time.

The currently catalogued very close equivalent is the 38-150-SWC. It's a great bullet.

Sorry about your loss. The value in the mold would be in casting with it and making nice groups at the range.

I was considering that mold when I began casting for 38/357 (decided on the 38-158-CM). I imagine it would be a great 357 boolit. If it were me, I'd at least try it out before trading.

Too light for a “real” Keith bullet!

I have this same mold and purchased it off this site for 35 or $40. I absolutely love it. It is a bit lighter but accurate as can be. I liked it so much I picked up an Arsenal clone which also shoots very well. I tried a Lyman, NOE and the RCBS seeking accuracy and I found it with the 38-150 KT. It is my understanding the RCBS only made two cavity molds.
