Have a couple of moulds that look promising in an old Rem 141 in 35 rem. A Ranch Dog 190gr and the old lyman 358627 215gr SWC.
Plan on shooting deer at 100yds or less (no scope as not D&T for mounts so plan to leave it origional) with the SWC at around 1800fps or the 190 fp at around 1900 fps. Have an HM2 mould that throws a boolit at 235gr that I plan on trying but my MM at that weight is too big on the nose. Might be the same with the HM2 mould
Shot some 190's/215swc yesterday @50yds and my eyes could keep either boolit in under an inch.

Larger meplat or heavier swc design, which would be better? Either WCWW's or ACWW's

Hey rockrat
Your selections and velocity are all sound. In the model 141, chambering and extraction will be a greater limiting factor. It would be to your advantage to utilize air cooled as time is not the friend of water cooled projectiles. Of your options listed, I do not have any experience with the Ranch dog model. Would be interested in real world results. My favorite is not mentioned. The RCBS 200 gr .358 works in all my 35s. My 141 is a little fussy with semi-wads chambering and not putting a ding in the shoulder. I'm not good enough to know if it affects accuracy. In the pump action, proper sizing and custom fit OAL really makes the rifle perform. Your groups will easily put a deer down where it stands. In the 141, slower propellants like 4064 and 4350 will give best results for accuracy. Soon as you push the pressure threshold, even a little, extraction issues will arise. For 35 rem in general, I have found the Lee collet die to be a great addition as opposed to conventional lube and size. Got my 141 from grandpa, where did you get yours? I load 35 rem from ridiculous to sublime. Best of skill to you.

How soft of alloy are you using? Whoops saw Wheel weights. To hard in my book for deer. I’d be cutting them with 50% pure lead so you get some expansion and energy transfer for a bigger than boolit size exit hole for a decent blood trail and quicker kill.

I've shot deer with the ranch dog and it does indeed kill with authority ! Imo use the ranch dog id worry about feeding issues with the Swc if a quick follow up shot is needed

I think the meplat does more for impact effectiveness than a SWC shoulder. I don't have a Model 14 or 141, but do have a couple of Marlin 336's in .35 Remington.

I have not tried the 358627 in the .35; the RCBS 35-200-FN does what I need it to do, I think Lee makes a copy of it now.

As long as the SWC feeds well in your rifle, I would go with the most accurate one.

Maybe do some expansion testing.

the RCBS design 35-200 In my opinion is the gold standard for 35 rem, it also shoots well in 35 whelen I use 4198 in both. I no longer had any use for 35 cal jacketed bullets after getting one of NOE 4 cavity molds for this. I lube size to .360 and have had great success with this at full power using 30.5 gr imr 4198 or 35 grains 3031 . these have been most accurate in marlin 336. I know that both lee and NOE have excellent molds for this boo lit.

Purchased my 141 from Gene Sears Supply in El Reno, OK. They had just got a bunch of guns from the family of a recently deceased gentleman and the 141 caught my eye.
I have thought about using 50/50 Pb/WW's and might try some Varget (or Precision) or possibly AA2520 which I have used previously in a 336A 35Rem with great results.
The RD and the "627 both shoot very well. Have to single load as problems feeding. Took it apart and cleaned it up somewhat as I don't think it was ever cleaned. Will see if that helps things.
Will be trying a 235gr and a few other boolits (35-200 included) once it warms up a bit at the range.

I have yet to deer hunt with my Marlin 336 35 Remington but it will be my next gun I use with Lee’s 35-200 FP. I’ll probably stick with my 1500 FPS load as it’s so accurate out to 100-200 yards. I am sure it will still completely punch though the corn fed deer here in So. Indiana. I usually water cool my bullets for hardness but air cooled WW should shoot as well with a gas check and maybe would give me some expansion.
A good friend of mine shot a nice buck with his Indiana compliant 35 Remington out of his rem/browning semi auto and it was a perfect one shot drop.
I guess in your case I would be more concerned about a bullet that feeds for a possible follow up shot just in case.

Another vote for the RCBS 35-200 as the go to all around bullet. Works well in my '52 Marlin 35 Rem, 356 Win and also in 357 Marlin crimped over the ogive in mag brass to std OAL.

My goto boolit is our group buy 200 grain HP at 10.4 BH using 50/50 COWW and pure lead. Here is a deer I shot with it last year.

Forgot to mention the 100 yard group to the left in my avatar was shot with the same load. If I remember correctly I tried a 200 yard group with the same load that group around 2” give or take a quarter inch if I remember correctly. I know i posted the target and results on an old post here somewhere.

another vote for the RCBS 35-200 boolit, although i use it in my 35/30-30.

Nice day so went to the range and took a 308 and the Rem 141. Tried some more loads with the RD boolit, an Accurate mould casting a 180gr boolit for the 350 legend, the 358627 and the 35-200. The RD and Legend boolits were only fair, about 2" groups, but the 35-200 boolit shot very well, as did the 358627 which fed just fine, crimped in the top crimp groove. Both boolits group size were almost identical. ACWW's on the 35-200, sized .360" with caranuba blue lube. The group below was the 35-200. The 358627 had the 3 shots in line horizontally, about the same size. A jword, the 180gr Rem. bullets designed for the 357 max. shot a bit better. Take the far left bullet hole and move it right to where it almost touches the other two and that would be the group size. Very little difference between all three types. Shooting iron sights @50yds. With my 67 yr old eyes, 100yds is just a bit too far to shoot on paper. All loads were using surplus 4895.

The RCBS 200 gr gas checked plain or powder coated is the only bullet needed in my 35 rem or Model 8 nuff said/ Ed

The Lee C358-200-RF with its meplat works for me. Incredibly accurate too. Whacks the large deer hard.

In contrast to Tripplebeard's bullet performance I took a buck in 2000 with a hardcast RCBS-200-FN out of a 356 Win at 1950fps which is typical 35 Rem velocity also. At the time I thought it was 50/50 PB/Lino but since have come to know it was blended with Monotype not Lino. Shot was 50yds quartering on hit low in the chest in front of the leg and broke the offside leg on exit showing little if any expansion. Went 25yds and you could eat up to the hole as they say.

I’m guessing our group buy is/was a RCBS clone. It weighs approx 203 grains on average w/o a GC and PC. I’ll sacrifice some meat all day long to knock a deer off it’s feet. We can purchase unlimited numbers of doe tags every year in my state so I always have enough venison to go around. I tried the lee 200 grainer but couldn’t get as tight of groups. It came with penta and round HP pins along with a plug to make solids...which I’ll never use.

Just showing that example as the other extreme. That was over 20 yrs ago and best advice today would be the happy median in between where most tend to be anyway based on the experiences of the masses.
