Has anyone here loaded 32 S&W long with CFE pistol, hs-6, or 700x, I can’t get ahold of any listed powders and was wondering if I could load some with what I have on hand. Will be shot out of a 327 federal mag LCR.

2.7 grains of 700X with an RCBS 32-98-SWC, truth to tell, I can't remember good or bad about this load. I came up with it during the 2014 shortages when I found a nearly empty can of 700X and loaded up a couple of boxes, just to use it up.

Depending upon what gun you are shooting it in, I'd be inclined to work up starting from 2 grains of 700X, if an older gun chambered for .32 S&W Long or .32 Colt New Police. For a S&W Model 30 or 31, or Ruger the 2.7 grains is a full-charge load.

I use 700x in 32 S&W short, though I don't recall the charge off the top of my head (I'm out of town at the moment, so can't check my notes). Having employed that same powder in a multitude of other pistol cartridges, I would recommend starting at 2 grains, and working up to the first accuracy node you encounter.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It’s just mostly gonna be a plinking loaf to try and get my wife used to it. She hasn’t shot much and a full powered 327 federal mag load would be pretty rough if you’re not sure of what to expect.

This manual has 700X data for just about every pistol and rifle cartridge that was in existence when it was published, .32 S&W Long on page 255.
