223 lead

I have a Mini 14 580 series.
And would like to know is there a
60gr. lead boolit for it?
And if so what kind of loads do you
guys and gals use.:holysheep

I have a Mini-14 and decided to use it with just generic jacketed and reserved my cast 223 loads for a 223 bolt rifle. The problem was that the Mini required 2450 fps mv to function the action and my cast don't like going over 2200 fps. The boolits from an NOE 58 gr mold have amazingly out-shot jacketed accuracy-wise in both rifles at 100 yards and an mv of 2050 fps.

You can get different size gas block inserts to adjust the gas flow. I had to go smaller because my mini was sending the brass into the next area code :(

The twist rate of the Mini 14 is 1:14". 60 gr might be too heavy to stabilize. That's why the Mc has 1:9" twist to stabilize the 62 gr SS209/M855.

In my 581 series I have used a Lyman 225415 & NOE 225-55-FN ( RCBS ). I was advised to use 4198 ( duh ), start with a starting charge and work down until the action no longer functioned. 16.9 gr was the lowest charge that gave 100% function. I use Linotype 1:1 with soft lead. Lubed with 1 coat thinned Lee Alox. After several thousand rounds I decided to replace the gas bushing with a smaller diameter. Required gunsmith to drill out the original for me. Tried the ASI largest hole first, removed it after about 40 rounds. Next smaller size 0.045 was tried. I was so exited to actually see ejected cases landing not too far away I kept on shooting. But after about 150 shots I thought I would try the next size smaller. This leads to my question. Is there a method to loosen a “soldered ?” in gas bushing?
I will enjoy shooting what I have, you should also.
