1847 Walker 44 Uberti

Ordered one from Midway hopefully I will get it about the middle of next week.
4 1/2 pounds with a 9 inch barrel what a beast.
Looked at a CVA last week end at a gun show and the seller wanted $600 for it and would not budge on the price.
I want to get a 1858 Remington as well.
i have a cap and ball Virus.
I think I will get a 3rd. Model Dragoon later this year.
This Is my 1860 Army Pietta.

I had a 3rd model dragoon , they are massive , I preferred the 1860 army , have a few of those Piettas , they are all fun , shot the 1851 navy last month and have a 58 remington navy in 36 I bought as it was in a gun shop and was missing some blue in a few spots , it just looked like it needed a home .

Have fun with those , they are what started me casting way back mid 70's .

Went to the gun shop today to get some 22 bullets and they had a 1858 Remington Pietta brass frame.
I decided I would get it and it came home with me. The reason i got it was it came with all the accessories I could use.

I had an ASM Walker. Fun but the loading lever dropping on most shots did get annoying.

Don't believe the tales of massive recoil with full loads.

I kind of want to get a Dragoon, but the 51 and 61 Navies are so much fun to shoot.

I used a thin piece of brass strap to keep the loading lever up it slides forward when loading .

You guys do realize those - Walkers and Dragoons - were horse pistols? They were intended to be carried on the saddle, not the belt!

By and large men of the 19th century were smaller in stature than we are today; the big reason was cow's milk. Men of this century are much larger and stronger than our ancestors of a century and a half ago, and if so inclined, could easily handle a pair of these woundrous weapons...................

Wow Midway is on it got my Walker big Iron today. Uberti makes some nice looking handguns, cannons!..
The grips are very nice light in color and the case hardening is beautiful.. The bluing is dark and deep.

Oh yes people are bigger and it is true a lot bigger and a whole lot bigger around in fact a lot are round , I like the 36 caliber and the 44 caliber smaller frames , I had the 3rd model dragoon and it is neat but more then I really wanted . But I am not saying nothing against them either as it was a hoot to shoot .

We might be a little bit bigger. But if you think we're stronger go to a museum and look at the rifles over an inch across the flats with a .38 to .40 bore.

DCB - Congrats on your new Walker -looks like you got a nice one!

I have a Uberti Walker - NIB and I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but looking forward to it.

I have always shot '51 Navies for over 55 years and a few years back, got the itch for a .44. Now I have a brace '60 Armys and '58 Remington NMA as well as a brace of '58 Remington Navies

C & B revolvers are like Lays potato chips - you just can't have one.

The Walker is a big hunk of iron - no doubt about that - but I'm betting it's going to be a fun pistol to shoot. I'm looking forward to playing with mine at longer distances just to see how close I can come to a can or a gong - might not hit 'em but I'm guessing it will scare the bejeebers out of them!

They were built well (the guns) however the wheels under them not so much (DRY ROT) very rare now / Ed

This is one of the best looking fixes to an old problem that I have ever seen. Is the strap soldered?

The brass band has the ends folded over to enter lock with each other and to load I slide it off.

I can eat just one Lays potato chip. It's the revolvers that I couldn't stop at one....or two....or three.....
