Very nice, wish I could brave these temps and get out shooting but it’s way too cold here in Mi for my blood.

Too cold for me, and I am probably 40 miles South of you. ( and 50 West)

Come up here to Northern Wisconsin and we can shoot .22's together for about 3 minutes. Then head into the house to sit by the roaring fire to thaw out! Chris

My kabota had me scratch my head and freezing my fingers too. The shoot rotating fuse blew (again) i plugged a new one in. No go. Tried two others, No go. Gave up and pulled it into the garage where it was warmer (-3 outside) and found out my big hand stuck in where that fuse is in tight quarters unpluged the main electric conector under the dash. Got it going but took a while to get feeling back in my fingers.

While I would love to go outside shooting, I am too much of a wimp to handle the cold here.
Our benchrest range is at the bottom of a hill and I am not certain I could get back up the hill even if the road is open.

I got outside to try out a mach2 but didn't have much luck at 100 with the windy conditions.

-10* here this morning...no way I am motivated to shoot. Have a new "free" toy to play with too; courtesy of selling primers to grasshoppers.

It is up 13* now. Maybe 30* this weekend.

This wussy is waiting for March.

No wind suns out. I'll shoot in upper 20's F. Mechanics gloves help some.

It’s 7 here and you could shoot limbs off trees with 22. Limbs snapping like glass. This morning when sun was out it was blinding. Snow and trees encased in ice.

I'm retired, I can pick and chose time and place.

It's ok, call me a wimp, I'll agree.

You shoulda called yourself Diehard Wolfdog.

Do you notice any difference in accuracy in such cold? There would be no such thing as subsonic at those temps. Mind you, there is the 720 fps and 9 something as well. Not sure what sonic velocity would be at that cold. I'm just wondering whether the cold affects the ammo, not so much the sound barrier effects although that may play a role too. although, as long as the round is well above or well below it should effect accuracy.

I love cold weather and would shoot some targets in the winter (Wisconsin) But several things prevent that:
1. Don't have a place to shoot. We have a range but it closes from Thanksgiving to May.
2. I am feeble and poor health now and cant do much even in the summer.
3. When doing stuff in the Winter ...when it's like -15° F you have to move around a lot. Shooting is tough to do cuz you got to be still.
I miss ice fishing the most. I like that FAR more than hunting. Maybe even more than fishing in the warmer weather. I love being out there ALONE in the cold. Used to go ice fishing at night all alone. You gotta try it. It is a spiritual experience.
The coldest I ever went was with a buddy when we were 16 yrs old. Went to a local lake when it was -18° F with 22 mph winds AT NOON. We had an old army tent but the wind was blowing so bad it had on effect. Lifted it right up and blew underneath. We only lasted about an hour but both had a half a 5 gallon bucket of bluegills in that time. Nice ones too. EXHILARATING.

The good thing about shooting in the cold is often you are the only one at the range.
