Wonderful weekend for those of us shooting Shiloh Sharps...
A friend sent me to GunBroker Saturday morning. There was a Shiloh Sharps #1 Sporter in 30-40 Krag. Buy Now! for $2339 Shipped and insured!
Two minutes to make the deal, even included a set of dies and 50 new cases. Considering that Shiloh had an eighteen month backorder when I ordered one in 405 Winchester last month; I am a very happy camper here in SW Idaho.
If the snow ever melts I will be a very, very, very happy camper.

You gentlemen (and ladies) take care,

Rich

Based on recent events, it appears that the next Ice Age has arrived and the snow may not melt in our lifetimes. Congrats on your score!

Sounds like a nice rifle for sure.30-40 is a natural cast bullet round. We’re is a good place to shoot long range in sw Idaho?

Depends on your definition of long range. The Parma Rod and Gun Club has 700+ yd steel on the main rifle line. A 900+ steel setup from the corner of the range. To shoot farther, like a mile or longer requires going out the corner gate and shooting back into the range steel from adjacent BLM land. That's how they've done their mile shoots and how I first connected with steel a mile away.

And you're right. There is a nice Krag carbine in the family, and it shoots great with cast bullets.

Congrats Idaho Sharpshooter on the new rifle. Sounds beautiful.
