View Full Version : What .32 Long Colt bullet is this???

I pulled this from a vintage .32 Long Colt. It is .296 in diameter with a hollow base. It was not made to be a heeled bullet.

What mold would this be? I have tried looking it up and get zip.

If there was a mold that cast a boolit with such a channelure, I never heard of it.

That looks like it was factory made and swaged rather than cast.
Any info on the case head stamp might help if it wasn't a re load.

I agree with Winger Ed. And I would like to see an intact cartridge as well.
That said, I have seen some wonky bullets designed for a Marlin carbine that were not heeled. I'm fairly sure that Ray Giles is the one I learned that from.

I added a photo of the cartridge. The headstamp is U.S.C. Co 32 LC
I assume this was made to replace a heeled version. Colt reduced the size of the 38 and 41 Colt to become an inside lubed bullet but gave them a hollow base so it could flare and engage the rifling.
