I couldn't sleep
So about 3 AM I was killing Aliens on a computer game
When my male house cat started hissing
As he was setting on the window sill looking outside
He hisses at raccoons and coyotes
So I looked quick and could see a coyote crossing the field
It looked to be headed for close to my garage
So I put on a t shirt and shoes
I then grabbed the Remington Versamax shotgun and a couple of 3" #4 Buckshot loads
And Yes that Versamax is a 3 1/2" shotgun , BUT I have a bunch of 3" #4 buckshot loads loaded
Also I have found my shoulders sometimes slightly touch when I shoot to many 3 1/2" lead loads when not needed
I was able to get between the garage and my truck before the coyote crossed the road
So I just had to wait for the coyote 30 or so seconds before it was slightly past me
FUN in the 10 degrees temps without a coat
I then held on it's nose and pulled the trigger
At about 50 yards the 34 #4 buckshot pellets from a Lee buckshot mold did the job
A Federal Hi-power Hull , Winchester 571 powder ( HS7 ) , Federal HS4 wad and a Fed 209A primer
No tracking needed
As it dropped in it's tracks
A male , it looked like it might have been one of last years crop
It also might have been the replacement for the Male I shot behind dads house a month or so back
As I try and keep the number of coyote's down to protect the cats and deer
Not sure what he will be worth
But I still skinned and fleshed the hide
I just have to take the hide to my friends as he has my stretchers
Brrrr it was COLD !!!
