I just bought a mold in 275 gr as a solid for 45 LC and I have had little luck even here finding load data for it. So looking for any advice I did read as I searched to use the next lowest load at it's minimum then work up 10% at a time. I also read the same about using the next highest load 300 gr and using it's max then go up 10% .

I'm not sure what to do I have thought to average the two closest and use that as my starting point!

Like to hear what you all have to say! Thanks!

For the finished bullet, if I know the weight, length and the length from base to crimp groove, plus which powders you are interested in, I can run them through my ballistic program and give you some loads.

Lyman's #4 cast Bullet Load book has data for the RCBS 45-270-SAA (270 to 283 grains depending on alloy) and Brian Pearce's article for the same bullet in Handloader #246 might be a good starting place.

Here is the link to the Handloader mag article on the 45-270SAA and 3 tiers of Colt .45 loads. Tom

A subscription to www.loaddata.com is a great resource. There you'll find an abundance of 45 Colt data from all kinds of sources.

Data is going to depend on the particular bullet your using. I cast and load a 288 gr. SWC that's a copy of the RCBS 45-270-SAA. It's a wonderfully accurate bullet.

I found a couple of particularly accurate loads for this bullet. One was 8.5 grs. of Unique-

I don't recall the velocity and it's 17° outside, so I'm going to get my load log out of the shop tonight. :-D

The other is my hunting load and consists of 9.5 grs. of Power Pistol for just shy of 1000 fps. This load runs around 20,000 psi, so make sure your revolver will handle it.

What bullet are you using?

Here is data for Accurate 45-290H from Larry Gibson:

277529277530

Bullet weight 295 grains, charge 7.5 grains Bullseye, Ctg. OAL 1.69", from 10-inch Contender 959 fps, 855 fps from my 4-5/8" Ruger Blackhawk pressure <18,000 psi, so exceeds SAAMI MAP for .45 Colt but well within safe design limits for the Ruger.
