Seems to me it's likely that someone has put together a program for reloaders that will tell you if your proposed load is too heavy, what velocity you are likely to achieve, and, perhaps, a loading record that is easy to use and easy to search. Have any of you found such a thing? :-)

Check the quickload thread

Don't you have to purchase Quickload software? Is there a thread for quickload on castboolits I don't know about? Please link me to it.

You have to purchase quickload. There is another one that is free...I have it somewhere. Will see if I can find it.

Here is a link to download Gordons Reloading tool (Beta). I have not tried it so I can't help you with questions:

Unfortunately, the 2020 version of Gordons Reloading Tool will not run unless you set your computer's time/date back one year.....

If you want to download GRT, you might as well download the new version -

Tanks. Looks like a "try it free for 30 day" type thing, then buy it. I have been thinkin' about buying Quickload anyway, but then I've also been thinkin about selling out everything I've got. I'm in the process of going through Dad's, recently passed, inventory of guns and reloading stuff. Ohmuhgawd, I thought I had a lot, and I do. I don't want my wife or two boys going through what I'm going through right now. I'm going to severely downsize in the coming months. Ya never know when you number is up. My wife doesn't know a 9mm from a 50 cal. You may see stuff listed here soon. It's a conundrum for sure.

Edit to add:

It asks for CC info even for the 30 day trial. So even if I choose to quit after the 30 day free period, it will likely be a fight to disable it. BTDT. Dunno if I want to do this or not.

la5676 - I downloaded GRT four months ago, and it has never cost me a dime. The biggest drawback is the limited number of U.S. powders in the drop-down "library" (the program was developed in Europe).

You have to register on the GRT website (see my post above) - be sure and save your password, you will need it to download updates.

I started on the dropbox download before I saw your post. Should I back out of that now, and just do the GRT thing

OK, help me out here. Is that a trick question on the registration. What is the abbreviation ("for short" in capital letters of Gordon's Reloading Tool? One would think they want GRT there

If you have already unzipped/installed the 2020 version, you can run it by setting your computer's clock back to 2020 (at least, that's what I had to do this weekend when I discovered it wasn't working anymore).
Once you register on their website, you can download the 2021 version (which looks the same to me) and over-write the 2020 files.

Yes, the correct answer should be GRT. If you have trouble registering, you might contact alliwyno@gmail.com - that's the Support person who helped me when I couldn't find my password.....

OK, help me out here. I'm a puter neanderthal. Do ya open it, then unzip it, or just go straight to "save". I realize it's gotta be unzipped first. Does it unzip while saving it?

On my machine running Windows 10, the zip file I downloaded from the GRT website went into my computer's "Downloads" library. Looking in the library, I saw the folder labeled "GordonsReloadingTool-2021", indicated as a compressed folder. When I clicked on that folder to open it, I saw a list of the compressed files, and I saw an "Extract" icon.

I clicked on the "Extract" icon and the computer created another folder (still inside the Downloads library) labeled "GordonsReloadingTool-2021", indicated as a File Folder.

I clicked the mouse on that File folder (holding the button down) and dragged it onto my Desktop. Now I can launch the program by double-clicking on the desktop icon to see the individual files, and then double-clicking on the file indicated as "application".

Even Quickload with it's Windows 95 GUi is missing a lot of the newer and not so new powders.
