Hodgdon Powder Triple 7 lawsuit????

Read on another site that there was a lawsuit(s) against Hodgdon Powder Triple 7 powder/pelletsfor blowing up barrels. The OP failed to provide a link and I can't find anything on the net about it...any truth to it?

I use the stuff in my CVA Wolf and have for years without an issue

Probably someone put more than 150 grains in it. I shoot my wolf with 100 grains for hunting. When im shooting it for range time. I use 75 grains. But yeah i couldn't find any info via google on a lawsite.

People do not understand there are magnum muzzleloaders and NoN magnum barrels.


I talk to guys all the time when they are having grouping **** issue.

The first thing I ask is; what is your load,what is your rifle?
What is it rated for?

I have never had a customer pellet issue other than the few guys who grab the incorrect sabot/bullet dia.

We can list other reasons for blown up barrels. It takes near torturing a guy to tell you what he did

This is what I thought. I own 2 non magnum Wolf's and 1 Magnum wolf. Shoot 2 pellets(100 grains) in the nonmagnums for YEARS and never an issue...drives tack at 85 yards....my available range.

100 grains
100 grains will give you plenty of power. Hodgson Co. ,which makes Pyrodex and Triple 7 pellets, says you should not use more than 100 grains of either brand

Triple 7 is hot stuff. Someone probably went by weight instead of volume.

My guess would be our budding nimrod has been told that "you can't blowup a black powder gun" and armed with that tidbit of misinformation proceeded to reason that if a lot is good, then wretched excess is much better.

I couldn't find anything current with 777 powder for a law suit. It was mentioned in the old CVA law suit and there is on for Boeings 777 aircraft. The one time it was mentioned the guy used 3 50gr pellets in the CVA which would be over the recommended charge since 50gr of 777 is not equal to 50gr of BP.

There are guys out there selling custom smokless powder muzzle loaders. I know it can be done safely but there's so much more that can go wrong.
