Guys,

I am new to the forum and new to casting. However, I am looking for a few of Ranch Dog's old designs.

C311-165-RF
C311-170-RF

Both tumble lube and "original" bullet designs for JM marlins.

I know that he is no longer in binness, and that his molds are sought after. I would like to have Tom @ accurate make me some.

However, I am unsure which, if any, of his designs are true copies of RD's. I believe the 170grn may be the 31-170F.

I have reached out to Tom recently as well, but have yet to hear back. Hopefully soon.

As I recall, all Michaels designs were tumble lube bullets. Tom's 31-170FT is a close copy of Michael's early design for the 30-30 Win in early Marlin 336 rifles. It was originally the TLC-311-165-RF. He later renamed it the TLC-311-170-RF to more closely reflect the actual weight.

https://arsenalmolds.com/products?product_id=84&limit=100 , https://arsenalmolds.com/products?product_id=104&limit=100 and https://arsenalmolds.com/products?product_id=107&limit=100. Take your pick. $83 for a new 4 cav mold is a great price for a fantastic mold. Just my input good luck.

After further reading and research I have modified my search, but only in the lube groove design.

It is the “traditional/conventional” lube groove design that I am after. I believe it was after NOE started making his moulds that it was offered, and they dubbed it the NOE 311-165-GC RF.

However, also looks to me like the 311-170 Grain RF from Arsenal is a direct copy of that, simply named a 170 since it drops closer to 170. Can anyone confirm that for a fact?

I found a sketch of the NOE 311-165-GC RF from Swede under the archives section here. I will likely either have Accurate cut me a mold to that spec, or purchase this one from Arsenal, if someone would confirm for me that they are in fact the same.

Many thanks.

They are very close. You can compare NOE print to Arsenal print dimensions. NOE just provides more specs. Good luck I am sure either will perform very well.

I always get tempted to try other molds but keep coming back to this design. For me it holds 1.5 moa reliably at 1800 FPS PB powder coated. Does what I need a 308 to do. 180 grain NOE version.

I ordered a Arsenal late last month and I should have it tomorrow. Its a 311-170 RD. Probably uour best option as well.

Id love to hear your opinion of that mold when it arrives. Website currently says 5-6wk back order, but would gladly wait a month. It does seem the best option for that bullet at the moment.

This is one of three in Ranchdog 311 series I think called short necks.

This is the mold you’re referring to.
