Can anyone with experience tell me if the barrel from a later model 39, or even an old model 29 Marlin pump, will fit on an old model 91? I have a 91 tube loader (not side loader) that is in need of a barrel one of these days. From what I see, the threads look the same. Not sure of the guide and extractor cuts on the model 29 breech face being correct, but the 39 looks awfully close. If needed, I can cut those reliefs in the right spots.

Any input would be dandy,
Aaron.

Relining is also an option.

Along with the chamber face issues what about any dovetails or screw holes out front. ^^^^^ Stated option above and everything stays the same on the outside.

All true. I guess I was just wondering as the threads on both the mentioned barrels are the same, and the cutouts on the breech end look close. The possibility of it may work. I'm familiar with lining the barrel, although it is quite expensive. And I'm not quite setup to do that job.
The work of fitting the barrel I can do, clocking it to the right spot, maybe chamber ream, and such.
I will research this more, and certainly appreciate any input.
