What does your reloading manual tell you?

Lyman's Reloading Handbook says 6.0gr to 7.5gr with a couple 170gr cast bullets. With a 150gr cast bullet, I use 7.0gr. Hope that helps.

One of the best reasons to collect up some of the older manuals when you find them...

I use 700X a lot in 30-30. My load with 150GC or 155 Plain base is 5.6 grains. Very accurate to 50 yards.

I use 700X in all kinds of things, one of the most versatile powders out there. The older Lyman manuals have cast data for just about every cartridge you can name with 700X. For light target loads in the .30-30, I'd likely start with about 6.5 grains and work up very slowly about 0.1 grains at a time.

I use the coated cast from SNS too for 30/30 and 30.06. They work real good. I like red dot in those loads. 13 grains in the .06 and 9 in the 30/30. If you get some shaving when seating the boolets. They have universal expanding dies. You resize 1st then bump up the mouth opening just enough to stop the shaving.

I've used a few of the loads from here and they work well, both in my .30-30 (that I no longer have) and in my .308. No, the .308 is not listed but the .30-30 data comes very close with these light loads.

I've tried 700X in my .308 W with a ~92 gr 7.65 Mauser pistol bullet PB. 7-9 gr. 700X worked OK at 50 yards. Above 9 gr they went all over the place. I sold my bolo ~40 years ago and still have 3-400 of these bullets. I'm gonna try a 170 gr Loverian w.o GC with some 700X when the range opens up again. I cast about 15 Lbs if them when I first got to casting and they should be age hardened after ~12 years so.

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook no3 has many loads throughout using 700X.
The Manual has been available for free online if you key in and Google the book you can download the entire manual.
I possess a copy myself and was surprised to find it online free.
It is out of print, but you can purchase reprints from Cornell Publications also.

I have purchased their copies of other manuals and they are great.

I have been able to secure excellent reprints of Cast Bullet Lyman No.2 and earlier copies of Lyman and Ideal manuals from the 1930S for their historical interest and info about earlier reloading tools, loads and powders and cast bullets of the times.
Cornell will work with you on this stuff and they do pretty well considering the way things are going now days with gun sports and reloading.
They don't sell gun parts, just the reprints of manuals etc that they list online.
They do have an extensive list of stuff.

Welcome to the forum,
I found 5.8 with 150 grn cast to be O.k.but not the best,I like Red Dot for the 30-30 with cast just start low and work up the right load for your rifle and needs.

DO a google for Lyman Cast Boolets handbook. It's on the web and it has 700x loads for all calibers but specifically the .30-30.

I have tons of old manuals downloaded. Most loads for 700X are the same or .1 grains less than Bullseye. If there is not a 700X load but there is a BE load, I just use .1 grains less. It works great for subsonic loads.
