I have the above rifle and am currently using the 400 grain Hoch nose pour boolit, with 21 grains of SR 4759, topped with 1/2 grain of cotton over the powder. This is a very accurate load, BUT, pretty mild. I would like to use this powder, but up the amount so I get a little more "oomph". Shooting 100 to 200 yards.
Anyone use this combo and can recommend a stouter load? I know that everyone says use BP, but I have about 7lbs of 4759. Thanks in advance, Kb.

I never loaded smokeless in the Shiloh .40-65 I owned. I did shoot a 400 gr RCBS bullet at about 1e00 fps mv to 400 yds with accuracy. You can go up in charge weight and velocity with 4759 (23-24 gr?) in the Browning rifle but your load will handle 200 yds easily.
In its original form the .40-65 was rather anemic by modern standards, not beating a .41 magnum revolver by much with about the same weight bullet.
