I have been poking around a number of the mold maker websites out there and I'm just staggered by the number of designs available, it's fantastic. I am curious about the application of some of them, though. For instance, Accurate Molds makes a 310gr. PC bullet with one huge 0.360 driving surface (http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=36-310W) which looks like it would be a real hoot, but what are you supposed to shoot it in? Could you load that in a 357Max?

The 35 Whelen was designed for 250 - 300 gr bullets.

A 310 gr. bullet will almost surely need to have the throat lengthened. I had to do it in my rifles to seat the 358009 Bator Heavy out far enough.

I shoot the Accurate Mold 34-310Z (powdercoated & swaged up to .358) and the 35-300P (Powdercoated and sized .358) in a T/C Contender 357 Maximum Suppressed with a 10" Match Grade Machine barrel. I sent a dummy round in for them to make sure the chamber/leade was cut properly.

Ooh... I may be in lust with your gun, lol. That sounds like a great setup! I have a 12" Encore barrel by them chambered in 357mag, but I haven't taken the trouble to get a can yet. Kind of feel like I need to find a decent heavy subsonic load for it first... With a 1:16 twist I think I should be able to stabilize 250gr... ish...

I think you will be fine with 300gr. in 357 MAX. The 310gr projectile OAL is 1.18" and according to the JBM Ballistics Stability Calculator, a 1-16 twist will stabilize the bullet as low as 800fps... Match Grade Machine's usual .358 twist is 1-16".

My MGM is a 1-10 twist made from a barrel stub. I called and asked about a .358 stub/scrap piece from a custum build and got lucky.

Hit me up on a PM.

I have been shooting 270/280g bullets at sub velocities thru 1:16 barrels... They do show tail wag but retain good accuracy. Pushing vel up past 1200 stabulizes the bullets. 250g show no such instability from 1000 up.

Where I buying a barrel, I would still want faster twist but I have gotten what Im looking for with a 1:16.

I recently assembled a 350Legend upper. As much as I looked I was unable to buy a barrel slower then 1:16. But same story as my Maxis. The 270's shoot 1"@50 @ 1075fps and show distinct tails on paper. Pushing them near 1300fps looses accuracy but also looses the instability. The SAECO 351 shoots great from 1000 past 1500 fps in this barrel.

Good luck

I have good results shooting a 240-grain bullet at 720 fps from a .38 S&W rifle with 1:10" twist barrel.

Nearly silent. No "can" is needed.

My guess is that with the bore riding diameter, it is meant for a 35 caliber. Just a little bit larger, 300 grain is a standard weight for 9.3x74r. I'm still looking for one in a Ruger #1.
