My buddy bought us one of these moulds for his 30 caliber pistols, so as a result I'm going to try them for some light plinking loads in 30-30 for sure, and probably 30-06.

I've done some research on it and seen where Larry Gibson suggests drilling flash holes with a #31 bit in the 30-06 and other cases that headspace on the shoulder. So, my question, would it be beneficial to drill the flash holes for the 30-30 since it is a rimmed case?

I have found suggestions of 2.7-3.5 grains bullseye. This is likely what I'll use. What suggestions for unique and for W231/HP-38? I have not found specific recommendations for these powders. I'm thinking maybe 231 won't do without a filler?

Alloy: Are both WW+Sn and 50/50 WW/Pb+Sn acceptable or is one prefered?

What's suggested for seating and crimping? I want to run these through the magazine of my 30-30, I expect I'll need some crimp but haven't tested yet.

Thanks

I don't think it is necessary to drill flash holes larger on a rimmed case, the rim will prevent the firing pin from pushing the case far enough to enlarge headspace.

I loaded quite a few .308's with 6.0 grains of 231 with a WLP primer behind a 120 gr RNFP, no filler, and got around 1250 fps from my 26" barrel.

There is a sticky that explains how to load gallery loads, found it: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?13425-Cast-Bullet-Loads-for-Military-Rifles-Article

Thanks Robert. I have about 1/4 cup of HP-38 left, not enough to load a box of anything but enough to test some stuff.
