Can Someone tell us how they polish the inside of the die. I want to make a 3/16'' core swaging die. I know to drill a hole smaller than the reamer size I intend to use. Then ream to .1885. I don't care if the core slug is a tad bigger. Just want to make sure it will exit the die easily.

I use brass barrel laps on a through hole. I start with 200 grit clover, then 600 grit, & finish with 1200 grit. I sometimes end with Flitz which I am told is around 7000 grit. Be careful with the 200 grit as it may remove more than 1/1000. The finer grits only remove a few tenths.

A core swage die needs to be smooth, but not as smooth as the point form die. Reaming and a little polishing should be all you need. The entire punch pushes out the core.
