Anyone or a good pet load or something in the ball park? I’m just looking for a medium/easy going load, only suitable powder I have is H4895. It’s a no4mk1* with a sportco barrel and a dark bore with good rifling. Bullets weigh 166gr lubed and gas checked, sized to 0.316”...

I’m thinking maybe about 28gr which is obviously well safe but just wondering if others have something similar?

For me, 28 grs H4895 is the "magic" load for C312-160 or C312-185RN in my 308 rifles. Under a 150 Jacketed RN in a 308 is an ideal deer round for youngsters.

Gidday Brnomauser , I`ve Used ADI 2206h x 28 grains + Polyester filler heaps in my No4MK2 with good accuracy but had even better accuracy with 22 grains of 2207 + filler in bullet weights from 160 - 203 grains all were powder coated , If you have any AS 30N try 12 grains of that with NO filler, its a hoot to shoot and will give you around 1320 fps

Good Luck and cheers

In my No4 Mk I* I use 27 gr IMR 895 with a dacron filler under 2 GB bullets [C314-291 & C 314-041] in R-P, Winchester and SA (converted from Berdan to Boxer SR primers) 303 cases. Excellent load.

Not me. Haven't used N-140 in anything.

I'm glad you mentioned those loads. I have those three powders. The 2206H I have sorted but I was needing load data for 2207. So the max load AS 30N with 203gr boolits is 12gr? My tendency is to stay at subsonic levels using around 5 to 6 gr.

For those not familiar with ADI powders, AS 30N is Clays, 2206H is H4895 and 2207 is H4198. Not equivalents - the same powders.
