I have used this product for 25+ years and have been very happy with it. However, it is time to resupply and I am a bit taken aback by the price. I will go with it if I have to, but I'm wondering if there is a more economical alternative. I do use a lot of brake parts cleaner but try to use it outside only, because of the fumes. During the winter that can be a bit challenging.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I buy the walmart brand when I can find it, O'Reilly's as a backup.

ID RED is a very volatile solvent that dries very rapidly and displaces the oil when used. No other product exactly like it that I have used.

ZEP has always been on the upper end of the price spectrum. But they do make some great product.

Yup, I ran a carwash and oil change in Madison Alabama for 23 years and used Zep products up until the last 5 or so years . Price jumped quite a bit so the owner decided to go with a generic brand . Took more of the cheap stuff to do the same mix so he really didn't save anything .

It's mostly heptane. You may be able to find that in bulk from a chemical supply house. I use a lot of it as well, for cleaning machined parts made from 7075 aluminum. It's about the only thing I have found to do a good job cleaning and not corrode the metal.
