Loads with Winchester AALite

I reached out to Hodgdon two weeks ago but received nothing in reply.

I have 24 lbs of this powder I got on sale to use for light trap loads but I am not shooting trap as much so want to use it for pistol loads in 9mm and .38 Spl.

Has anyone used it for those cartridges?

It is faster powder than Red Dot/Promo so I was looking at starting loads of 3.2 gr in the 9mm with 122 gr cast bullets and 3.0 gr in the .38 with 130 gr cast bullets. Any thoughts/opinions?

It appears to have been dropped by Hodgdon in 2014 along with all the IMR SR powders. From what I understand, it is an EXTREMELY fast burn rate powder. I would start with really light charges.

You should be able to trade that powder I have never seen it used in center fire ammunition. Used for years in shotgun shells worked great.

I have a Winchester load manual with WSL loads for pistol calibers. It’s the 14th edition ( paper back). Lists 9mm,38super,40s&w,10mm auto, and 45 ACP only. I have used some in 45 and it worked pretty good. Pm me and I will send what data you want in boolit weights.

I used alot of (WSL] win super light in trap loads and in the 45 acp with excellent accuracy this powder is several decades old

WAALITE in a burn rate chart I have shows it on TOP line, along with Norma R1 and Accurate Nitro 100F

I do not believe WSL is not the same a AALite.
