Are JC Higgins shotguns the same as stevens/savage?
Are the parts the same?
Is there a cross reference chart?

GPC has a cross reference chart in their book. It runs to many pages but covers all the store brands. Well worth the price of a catalog.

What model? I can look for you if I know what model you have.

lunicy: several of the J.C.Higgins s/s shotguns were clones of the savage/stevens 5100, 311, et al series. But,One of mine in 16 g. was made by A.Y.A and appears internally to be from their old "Matador" series.Externally, I've yet to see a 'Matador" with that good a grade of wood,or checkering..another real oldtimer most closely resembles an Iver Johnson 'Hercules".. Anybody laying odds on it being a Model 20? Got a pair of them, had one over 40 years.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question of an old JCHiggens pump that my brother had back in early 60's.

It looked like a Browning Auto 5; with the square back receiver, but it was a pump. Any body know the lineage of that particular model?

I got a M20 12g for my 16th birthday, it is now my grandsons and it was a High Standard, I know because I had to get some parts a few years back.

The pump with the square back is a Stevens model 520.I think it was the frist hammerless pump made.
