Has anyone had experience using the tumble lube process with liquid alox on conventional cast bullets with two large grease rings instead of the many small groves Lee utilizes for molds specifically designed for tumble lubing?

Also, would you size bullets for a .30-30 marlin with microgroove rifling .308 or .309?

Thanks for the advice.

surveyor, You can use Lee Liq. Alox to tumble lube "regular" CB designs too, although I generally apply it by hand to CB's I use in my rifles. As for the Marlin .30-30, slug your bore first and then size .001" - .002" larger than the largest dimension. Based on the Marlin I had, I'm betting you'll need. .310" or .311"( .310" was more accurate).

............I generally TL bore riding rifle boolts. Why have that long unlubed nose out there? Besides, it sure makes them easier to engrave when chambering. On the right is a slug I use in the 8x56R Steyr. They're a tapered design. I TL twice and then send them up through a push through .333" size die. The GC'd one was part of a test, and more effort then it was worth.

All these boolits intended for the 38 S&W were TL'd to begin with. The 2 with the Carnauba Red lube were sized to .361" (Vs their as cast .363") so I applied lube while doing it, but they didn't need it. For target loads in the 38 Special you need nothing more then a dose of TLing.

TL worked out for me on some 311359's and a group buy 30 carbine. They look just as pretty as Buckshot's and shoot the same as the ones lubed with 50/50.
