I screwed up some 357 magnums, and need to pull them apart.

I tried my trusty old Quinetics hammer, but with the roll crimp I could not unseat one after 30 solid smacks.

I think I know the answer already [smilie=b:

Take a lead ingot.

Use that as the target for the hammer.

It's amazing what a difference it makes.

I tried that last night

all i have left is 18BH from missouri bullet co

it rings and bounces on impact LOL

i need some more soft stuff

i use a FIRM roll crimp with H110 and its making these difficult

I had never heard that before, I will try that if I can remember it the next time I have to pull lead boolits.

Maybe a smaller caliber collet would grab it at the nose...not sure what size it would be.

I bang away on a 1' long piece of RR track but a concrete floor woks to .
The lead would be easier on the tool , swing hard I can usually pull a load like that in 2 or 3 hits.
Have Fun :) a wire crimping tool and your press would be the easy way if you don't mind sending the bullets to the recycle bucket.

Yeah, ya need a pure lead ingot to really make this work.

I've pounded on the concrete and never moved the boolit. Two whacks on the lead and it's out. You're basically turning it into a dead blow hammer.

I use a 3 lb rawhide hammer (holding it in the air), as opposed to the concrete floor or a lead ingot.

I have pulled lead boolits shaped like that with the RCBS collet puller.

I like the cut end of a solid oak block.

The harder the thing you strike the kinetic hammer against the better. I use concrete or a piece of rr track. The trick is to not hold the handle firmly but as loose as you can and still swing it very fast. Hold the handle at the very end with only your thumb and first finger and swing as fast as you can letting the hammer bounce back freely. This about doubles the pulling inertia. The boolit is going down fast and the rebound from the hammer going the other way helps to pull it away from the boolit. This even works on light weight 22cal boolits.

If you ain't trying to salvage the bullets, pulling them with pliers is the way to go. Run them up through the hole in your press and grab with pliers or dikes.

I bang mine in the little "banging surface" on the back of my Bench Vise.

The bounce back makes a big difference don't hammer like your driving a nail.

Greetings

To remove your bullet

Remove the depriming system from your reloading sizer die and resize your ammo to the bottom of your bullet.this will size your bullet down and you should be able to hammer pull them or dike pull them easier

thats what i do

hope this helps you
